I met Jodi at the Houston Airport right before hurricane Ike. Had a great time talking to her. Just wondering how she did with the storm?

Okay, so I have a lot of questions – but I won’t bore you with all of them.
-Why does a friend who you haven’t talked to in awhile, send you an email but instead of asking how you are and filling you in on their life, they feel the need to forward you the latest “prayer chain” or very important notice on that tainted candy/missing child/mall kidnapping scheme, etc.?!? I mean really, most of these things are urban myths that have been circulated for YEARS…..and if I know that, why don’t YOU?!?
-Are people never home anymore? I actually have called people’s homes where the answering machine said, “call my cell phone as we hardly ever check messages here….” What?!? Are you really in your home that little?! (Sorry, is that gramatically correct – you know what I’m trying to say) Likewise, I constantly get calls….at home….on my cell phone! People don’t even think to call the home first, they just automatically assume I’m out and call my cell. And of course the reception isn’t that great on my cell in my home. So much for AT&T and that “more bars” thing! Anyway, it saddens me to think that people are so busy running around, they are not at home, enjoying their home, enjoying their families around the dinner table?!?
-Okay, does this post make me sound grumpy and bitter? Last question, I promise!
Thanks for letting me vent. I’m sure there’s more but like I said, I won’t bore you with all my rants! Lindaloohoo, you need to blog more!
GREAT Questions Amy and “I” agree with you .. Lindaloohoo needs to blog more. We miss her too. She’s been vewy busy.
Amy-
Good questions!
I don’t get the people who randomly forward emails either–I have a few people who will forward 10 emails in a row. I often just delete those without opening–I mean who has time? And can they really all be that wonderful? Then the kicker is when months later I finally see that person–they actually ask–did you see the video on that email I forwarded to you? I actually said–no I don’t open a lot of those emails because I don’t have time for them. And guess what–they still keep coming!
I have to admit, I use my cell line my primary line. Only a few people call my home line–most everyone calls my cell. I understand why people call my cell first. With clients in the evening till 9pm many nights and meetings during the day my schedule on when I am enjoying my home is unpredictable. I don’t check my answering machine at home regularly because so few people call it. Right now my answering machine has 4 messages–all from political groups leaving messages about the election. Thank goodness for caller ID!

You guys ROCK!!
Ok, I have got to ask this…… Does any of you ladies suffer from anxiety?? I seem to have it under control… Then, BAM out of no where it comes?? Going for check up on Wed. Hoping it is hormones? Don’t know??
Thanks ladies!!
XOXO
Mindy (again)
Hi Mindy … I do have spurts of anxiety and I’ve had to learn how to “talk myself down”. Once I start freaking it’s TERRIBLE. I have to tell myself that it’s in my mind and that my mind doesn’t control me. Then I try to re-direct myself (kind of like you have to do with a kid) and give me something positive to focus on and it seems to subside a bit more.
I have learned that when I am having acupuncture done more regularly, it doesn’t seem to happen as much. I don’t know for a fact that it helps, but I do notice it’s certainly not happening as often when I’m taking that time for myself.
Hi Kristy… I hesitated on asking this question.. Thank you!! You know I thought I had/have High Blood Bressure but, seems it is high when I am in panic or anxiety.. I try to talk my way out as well. I find it interesting on the accupunture! I have tried meds and they make it worse! Rather do a more natural tecnique for sure.
Thank you SO much, nice to get advise or what others do when anxiety comes..
Mindy
Hi Mindy
I leave my comfort zone once in awhile and anxiety sets in – What I do is very simple take a deep breath and switch the uncomfortable thoughts to thoughts about what I am grateful for – For whatever reason that tends to put things in perspective –
A couple other tips – Have a glass of wine, work out, Blast music and sing at the top of your lungs, and like you said make YOU time as that is so important – Quiet time is a great remedy….
Hugs
Cathy
Mindy … please don’t hesitate to ask any question here. One of the best parts of this site we try to create a “safe” place for women to go to interact and talk with friends
. You are always welcome here.
THANK YOU!! Really, I love this website!! I will try this… Do any of you have the High Blood Pressure, I think the anxiety causes it then it just takes the snowball effect into the “bewilered” feeling.. So nice to talk to women about all this!! I had a hystorectomy (still have my overies) and the anxiety has been ever since that??
XOXO
Mindy
I don’t have the high blood pressure … but I bet acupuncture will help there too. :: doing quick search ::

How often do you get the acupunture? That is very interesting! Doctors are probably against it?? Seems the “natural approach” is not their way??
I turned to acupuncture a couple years ago when Western medicine failed me. I was told repeatedly that I was fine when I obviously wasn’t. At that time I was going once a week, but now I go about once a month.
I believe that Western medicine masks but doesn’t always treat the problem. Of course, that’s my personal opinion … I’m sure there are Dr.’s out there that would beg to differ, but that’s my experience.
Thank you! Thank you!! I go to the Doc today to chit chat/yearly. Anyway, we will see what she says and I will let you know. I am going to ask about suppliments and vitamins etc.
Talk soon!
Well ladies we made it through the Holiday!! What a great Christmas!! We had SNOW in Yucca Valley!! Anyway, about going th the Doctor in my last question… She said to monitor my BP everyday, during holidays I really didnt.. Starting today (Monday) I am. She just wants to make sure I am on the right dose of medicine. I go to the ENT about my clogged sometimes ringing ears on January 21 ( I am SO excited to go!) Forgot to ask her about vitamins!! I need to to that, a friend of mine is doing the Monavie?? Has any of you wonderful ladies heard of Monavie? Pros vs Cons?
Cheers!
Mindy
Great to hear from you!
Good luck at the ENT – I have spent a lifetime dealing with Ear, Nose and Throat issues…so I completely understand.
I seen the Monavie, I have tasted the Monavie, but I’m not sure how it stacks up against say a supplement you can get at your local Whole Foods.
Maybe the other ladies can shed some light…what say you ladies?
Happy New Year!
Jody
Hi Mindy
I have used Monavie and actually did feel pretty good after using it – However went I went to my nutritionist she suggested a group of other supplements that did more for your body as these type of products do have good ingredients they do not cover what we need 100%.
Well, I think I am going to do my Multi, Omega and maybe the Cal-MagD. I don’t like change in stuff… I was interested in Monavie, but, I take a LOW dose of BP med. I think with proper excersize (ya right) and diet, I should be good to go? I go to the ENT for my EARS!! ahh the ringing and them clogging up.. We will see. I take Zyrtec for it. I think it helps a bit…
Love to all… and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Ladies… Well, working out is finally happening! I can go to the base, they have a great gym and offers spin class as well. I ordered the new line at Victorias Secret of Yoga pants. They can’t keep them in stock they are in high demand.. Just want to give you a heads up and they hide my cellulite, just have to work on the baby bumb (now my baby is 7 almost
but anyway…
Cheers!!
Mindy
almost 8, sorry I don’t know how the little face got there?
Mindy – way to go – I am telling you there is something so theraputic about working out. It really does clear the brain and lift the “fog” You are adorable and your little body I bet looks great in those yoga pants!!!! Keep up the great work and keep us posted on the progress. Also if at the base gym they have a pilates mat class try that as well. xoxo
Could someone please tell me just how damn cold it has to get before we can stop hearing about GLOBAL WARMING?
Deb … I couldn’t agree with you MORE !!
Mindy, try Lpo-flavanoid for the ringing in the ears. It has a direct correlation with your high BP.
Deb,
I can’t believe you just said that…. I went to the ENT and he put me on that Lipo-Flavanoid!!! WOW!! that was weird… Anyway I feel a bit in a fog, probably because I am such a light weight. He said 3 a day.. I am doing 2 a day then work up to 3 and take my multi vitamin also.. I take my BP med at night just a half of 25 of Toporal XL. I am going through some stress of hubby deploying in July so, I need to get back into yoga and relax…
Thank you so much for the information!!
XOXO
Mindy
This question might be a little heavy, but I just found this site and feel inspired to ask…How do you overcome extreme guilt? About a two years ago I fell in love with my friend’s boyfriend, and he with me. I’d never experienced anything remotely like this before. I spent a summer searching my heart and so did he, and we ended up breaking up with our significant others for each other. Of course his ex, my old friend, won’t speak to me–and neither will any of the other friends we shared. I have agonized over my actions and what I did to her for such a long time, and my self-esteem has gotten so low that it’s affecting my work and other areas of my life. I even dream about her and my old friends. Any advice on how I can get over my guilt without relying on their forgiveness?
Hey June .. that is a tough question. How long ago did all this happen? This could be a great question for us to pose to our loyal (and smart) readers. Would you be open to hearing other’s suggestions on how to deal with your situation?
Hi Kristy, thank you for answering. It happened about two years ago. Yes, I would love to have anyone’s feedback on this.
mindy – i had a complete hysterectomy several years ago and one of the almost debilitating side effects for me was feeling anxious and completely overwhelmed. almost to the point that i would cry and feel like i couldn’t breath. it scared the crap out of me, as that was something i never had to deal with before. i found that if, at the onset of those feelings, i stopped what i was doing, sat quietly for a few minutes, took some deep breaths and just let my mind wander away and think about something completely different, that i could ride it out and the feelings would pass. the strength of the attacks has lessened over the years, but it still crops up occassionally.
i hope things get better for you – sounds like they are already coming around. just wanted you to know that you’re not alone
june –
it is a tough situation. as someone who gave up a child, i know a thing or two about self-hate. it took me a long time to get past those feelings. i found that time definitely helped and somehow, i managed to forgive myself. we are all human and things happen that require us to make decisions that we feel are appropriate at the time. you have to accept that your friends may never forgive you, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t forgive yourself.
try to change some of the routines in your life and make new friends as a couple. once you start forming a base around that unit, things will become easier in your day to day life. you’ll have new friends to interact with, talk to, have over to dinner and you won’t need to worry about feeling like they are judging you.
your decision is made and if you really love this man, you need to move forward with that life. that doesn’t mean you won’t miss your friends or stop thinking about them, but over time, it will become less painful.
i know it’s easy for someone on the outside to offer this advice, but take it from someone who loved thru some pretty dark days, it CAN get better. but it takes action on your part.
i wish you the best and please let us know how you are doing
lindaloohoo, thank you for your answer, I really appreciate your advice. After being a “good girl” my entire life it has been very hard to acknowledge that I was capable of causing so much pain, though my reasons did stem from love. And being ostracized from a group is hard even when it’s deserved. I will try hard to heed your advice to forgive myself and move on. I only wish I could stop myself from dreaming about the past every night…anyone know how to stop yourself from dreaming? (I don’t really expect an answer on that one…)
thanks again, lindaloohoo
june,
being a good girl is highly, highly over rated, so welcome to the dark side.
drink tequila before bed. it will help your dreams become much more interesting.
embrace and enjoy your ride.
Good Morning Ladies,
I am trying not to stress knowing my husband is going on ANOTHER Damn Deployment… We are moving back to my hometown and I am going back to my job at Glen Ivy Spa (pays not to burn your bridge).. Ladies, you should go to the spa, I can see if I can arrange to get you all in and just relax.. Tom’s Farms has good wine near the spa and I could see you all there now.. My question is… I was wondering if you have any T-shirts made of your wesite? I would support one??
Cheers!
Mindy
Good Morning Mindy … that sounds like a ton of fun
. I know it’s hard to not worry … just come here and we’ll try to distract you as much as possible. I’m sure Cathy has better advice for ya too.
Funny you should ask about tshirts … I JUST added that to my to do list for this week yesterday. I started working on it before, but then got sidetracked with trade shows. We should have those up in the next week or so
. You will LOVE them!
