So in the past 2 weeks I have had 2 very frustrating experiences with Walmart.

Ironically it was in my attempt to purchase at different times 2 digital cameras.

Experience #1 – My brother is a great Dad and he lives in a very small town in Indiana where he is a Doctor (Very Doc Hollywood) so as you can imagine he works a million hours a week and his time is very limited. He wanted to buy my Niece a camera. She had her eyes set on the Samsung L830 Red Digital Camera and we found it on www.Walmart.com. We thought great; my Bro can just go into the store and order it there. (He does not use the internet) So he cruises to the store and the Digital Camera Department Manager says, “Oh No we cannot order this for you in the store you need to order it yourself online”. He says what do you mean you cannot assist me and order the camera for me – you do not have it in the store but you cannot special order it for me even though it is on www.Walmart.com????? That is correct the Guy said – Nope I cannot help you as www.Walmart.com is a separate entity and we are not connected. Brother, scratching his head and frustrated walks out the door and calls his little Sis, Me to save the day. (We are a very co-dependent family!!!) So I go on to www.Walmart.com order the camera and try to have it shipped to the store as that is a feature they offer (In store Pickup), OH NO cannot do that either – by now I am getting frustrated but I call the 1-800 number and get to a real person (which was a feat in and of itself) I try to order the digital camera and have it sent to the store and she says to me – Why don’t you just go into the store and have them order it for you. You have got to be FREAKIN KIDDING ME – OMG I just about exploded and fired back at her my Brother tried to do that but was turned down. She says: “That was a mistake you should be able to order at the store” at that point I said Screw it and just ordered it myself on line and had it shipped to the house.

Just when you thought that story was over…. My order was delayed in processing a few days because the phone number I gave did not match the phone number associated with my credit card – with technology these days when I clicked “process” could it not have kicked it back with the “red” field we are all used to that says information incomplete. NOOOOOOOOOOOO that would have been too easy so they send an email a couple days later stating that I need to call them verify the phone number, So I do. Then they call me and leave a voice mail at the newly provided phone number to call yet again to verify the number AGAIN and after a couple days of this Crap the camera ships and finally gets to their house. The smile on my Nieces face was worth a thousand pain in the ass calls and emails to Walmart. My Brother and I now have a joke going and we call each other and just leave a quick message which simple states: “Did I mention that I HATE WALMART and WWW.WALMART.COM”

Experience #2 – So the Hubby and I are taking a trip soon and needed a new camera – The one we wanted was a Cannon (Powershot S5IS) so I did some comparison shopping and found it on www.Walmart.com for the best price. So based on what the rep told me just a few days prior: That I could go to the store and order it and would get it right away that is what I did or the other thought was that at the very least I could pay the same price in the store what the price was listed on the Internet. Well – that was a mistake as well…. The Customer Service Rep (I use that term loosely with Gritted Teeth) told me that he would not Match or Honor the Internet price because they are not affiliated and that Internet is always cheaper – Sorry. He did say that yes he could order it for me and it would take 7 – 10 days to process even though they had stock in the store…… Mind boggling the lack of efficiency. I said back to him that “I just wanted to clarify that he would not Match or Honor the price??” – He said Yes correct, I won’t match”!!!! So I said ok fine (blood boiling and face turning red) I will walk out your door and go 2 doors down to Circuit City and order from them – He said go ahead. That is what I did!! CIRCUIT CITY YOU ROCK – This wonderful company and the Sales person understands the concept of customer service. When I told him the price at www.Walmart.com he said NO PROBLEM I will Match that price……

In today’s economic climate where so many companies and people are really struggling it is amazing that some stores just do not care. Walmart was built on service and price. I tam pretty sure that Sam Walton if he were still alive would have a fit if he knew how the customer service aspect of his empire is in the tank and just SUCKS!!! Well it is obvious that Walmart is thriving and does not need the business. I am glad that I no longer own Walmart stock because they do not deserve my support. Go TARGET!!!!!

Let me tell you if I ran that ZOO things would be totally different!!! Way to go Circuit City for stepping up and putting the consumer first….. Walmart could learn a lot from you.

    Good example of how corporate America is losing touch! I feel your pain! I avoid Wal-Mart because at the one near me, it is just crazy if you go after work or on the weekends, you can be in line for 40 minutes to check out. I’ll take Target any day myself!

    I wonder if this post will generate “I hate Walmart” (or I love Walmart) fans – haha.

    Personally, I find that Target employees are much more helpful than Walmart.
