I have been on an absolute food fest as of late.
Yeah, I always say I’m going to post about it, but I just haven’t stopped.
Mr. G & I ate like royalty on our vacay…no lie there…even gained 4 lbs. (It’s off now) and our dinner at Alinea was absolutely MAGICAL. If you have a chance, check out the gallery on their site. AH-MAZ-ING. I will post our 24 course tasting with pics, as soon as I can lighten ‘em up with a photo editor.
This meal had me in tears during some courses, out of sheer overwhelm and even had Gary saying “Oh my God” Can you believe it?
On top of that, I have been on many food adventures on top of this…spent the day with fellow food bloggers out at Inn at Dos Brisas in the lovely green rolling hills of Brenham, as owners Doug & Jennifer Bosch were kind enough to host us for a tour of their 300 acre property, including a wonderful several course Summer Garden food tasting & wine pairing, as well as a cheese making demo.
This past weekend, I and a few of the Houston Chowhounds were asked to participate in a menu preview for Hubcap Burger Grill - located at 1111 Prairie Street in downtown Houston. We devoured the following - AND I say before reading this, DO NOT JUDGE…’cos you don’t know until you try…so there: 1. Frito Pie Burger 2. Black Bean Tamale Burger 3. Peanut Butter & Bacon Burger 4. Summer Sausage Burger
After all that burger munching, the Chowhounds headed to Beaver’s and Anvil for some summer-y libations, before making our way to Catalan to see what Chef Chris Shepherd had in store (preview) for my big birthday bash that is coming up!
Chef Chris had us crying for mercy by the end of the night…we had an AMAZING assortment of about 20 dishes to include seared foie gras in a fresh blueberry compote, wonderful pork belly, Roasted Bone Marrow with Maldon Sea Salt and a beautiful array of housemade ice creams and cakes. Plus he sent us home with some gorgeous Texas white peaches that Gary and I grilled last night on the barbeque…
If our dinner on Saturday night is any indication of what he has in store for my b’day…dear Lord, help us now. I will have to fast for 3 days prior. Seriously.
So as you can see, my yoga practice is burning off all of the decadent meals that I’ve been shoveling into my gob for the last month or so…it’s a fine balance, but it seems to be working.
And I PROMISE I will post pics sooooooooooooooooooooooon…especially of our meal at Alinea.

Ive been on a food fest too lately, except my five pounds in weight gain are STILL on and rapidly climbing!
OMG 20 dishes? I would have sopped it up with a biscuit. I’ve been on a food fest for a good portion of my life. Hey, that’s MISS fatty to you!!
Yeah…I hear ya on the weight gain…sheesh.
Queen Lindsay - 20 dishes is nothing for this iron gut!!! ha ha ha
I saw all the Twitters and thought … is she eating her way back to Texas? hahaha
See … I don’t usually eat things I can’t pronounce - I figure if I can’t tell the waiter what I want … then I probably shouldn’t order it. So .. the only way that’s ever going to actually happen is if we’re together and you hold my hand.
It has been three weeks and I think I may have lost one ounce of the 10 lbs. I put on while vacationing in the states! The newly acquired WiiFit tries to help, and I do think I’m looking more toned, but half my jeans still don’t fit! Ack!
Also, can’t WAIT for the Alinea post - that sounds incredible!
