Hello everybody~
I am BACK!!! I am so happy that 2008 is nearly done…it sure has been full o’ excitement!
Spent a good bit of time in Corpus with the fam for Christmas…it was nice…there was a point where we didn’t leave the house for 2 days! I can’t tell you the last time that I did that! We ate ourselves silly and then some.
We played trivia, did crosswords, played Scrabble…It is always a pleasure to play cerebral type games with my family - they keep you on your toes. Even learned a new word.
Xeric - Relating or adapted to an extremely dry habitat. Succulents such as cacti, aloes, and agaves are xeric plants. Try using that in a sentence next time you’re discussing Cactus plants or tequila (lindaloohoo)…seriously, it would be most impressive. Plus if you use it in Scrabble on a Triple Word Score, you could easily pen 42 points. Not too shabby.
We actually went bowling this weekend as well…and can I just say, Yeah…it’s time for me to start working out again. I was SORE on Sunday. What is that all about?
Looking forward to a shortened work week!
Mr. G and I have decided to ring in the New Year in typical foodie fashion by dining at one of Houston’s new hot tickets in town, Chef Scott Tycer’s Textile Restaurant. The restaurant was given a small write up in Gourmet Magazine recently as well. We are so excited. Mr. G. actually said to me that he was looking forward to it (SURPRISE from the man who said he eats to live, not lives to eat like me). We are doing the late seating for a 7 course tasting menu and champagne toast at midnight. Prolly be in bed by 12:45.
January 1st 2009 - I begin my annual cleanse, usually lasting anywhere from 14-20 days…ugh. It is a toss up this year, but I may do the Master Cleanse (don’t know if I have the willpower for a cleanse this hardcore this year or not) or I may juice like I have done for the last 3 years…time to clean the ol’ system out!
How do you plan on spending your NYE? Also, what are your goals/resolutions for 2009?

Well my young children have just proclaimed they want to stay up until midnight…that’s always so fun for the parents….and we’ll just pop popcorn etc. It’s too hard to get a babysitter!
I love a good game of scrabble–thanks for a new “x” word.
NYE–I’m going to see Stone Temple Pilots at the new LA Live Club in Downtown LA.
Goals and Resolutions: Continuing on with health and fitness goals and the book. Plus looking at the business with new eyes to see if there is something that I should be doing that I am not. Or something I am doing that I shouldn’t be.
Good luck with the master cleanse - I embarked on this one once upon a time and confess I only lasted 3 days.
We are going to friends to bring in the new year a tradition that has been around for years!!
Welcome back
… we don’t play scrabble much … although I think it’d be fun to do more. We play other games though. The Wii is the big game in the house right now. I am having fun with the Wii Fit stuff. Tiger Woods golf is good too … I’ve beat Ron AND Zac already because I have a much better swing with a remote in the hand - haha.
New Years … yeah we don’t do anything because Ron has to be up at the crack ass of dawn - actually before dawn to head to the Rose Parade. I think I may make my really fattening pasta that I haven’t made in two years as a last hoorah before Jan 1 when I’m dieting again and maybe we’ll watch a movie … then I’ll wake up at midnight to all the hooping and hollering that’s usually in our neighborhood at midnight … kiss Ron, roll over and go back to sleep.
New Years Day Zac and I will get up and watch the parade to see if we see Ron on tv
I love cerebral games. I do Dell Crosswords and Variety Puzzles and Dell Math and Logic Problem magazines all year long. Don’t want to let the brain get tired.
My best friend did the Master Cleanse last year and detailed every bit of it on a blog. If you’re interested I’ll send you the link, but if not, no worries!
No clue on NYE but goals? Well, I have one. But I have never been able to bring myself to talk about it publicly. If I accomplish it, though, then everyone will know.
Good luck accomplishing all your dreams in 2009 and Happy New Year Jody!
Hi Melissa!
I would love the link to the blog - I haven’t done it for about 3.5 years. Let’s hope I don’t get too cranky and give up!
And I would LOVE to hear when you accomplish unsaid goal!!!
Happy New Year to you guys!!!
