Did you know that…?

 My friend Shannon and I met for beers last night at Ye Olde Kings Head Pub in Santa Monica…as we single gals like to do occasionally…and after a few drinks…she decided to fill me in on a few geographical points…

Well, we both had decided we had never met ANYONE from Omaha, NE.   And we laughed about that for awhile - as I had said that I watched Intervention the  other night and one of the people being filmed was a woman addicted to meth living in her car in OMAHA, NE…very interesting, I must say.   Lots O’ FUN THINGS TO DO LIVING IN OMAHA…

Shannon is originally from Maryland…and she was DECIDELY pissed off that when she told people this…some people…of the more ignorant type…would say “What part of Massachussets is that?  Is it near Boston…?”  ”THEY ARE LIKE 8+ HOURS APART!”  She screams at me…She is appalled by the ignorance.

I puffed up and then said to her that I knew where it was and what it LOOKED like even and I made this cradling sign with my hand…She smiled and nodded her head, relieved.

Her reply was…”Yeah, Maryland is like the JOCKSTRAP for Delaware and Pennsylvania…”  and she made a motion as if it (MD) were holding up DE & PA in her hand…

I nearly fell off of my barstool…SERIOUSLY… 

Then her rant continued about how overpopulated SoCal was…and then she asked me in all seriousness…and I’m not sure where she arrived at these facts…”Did you know that when the government was looking at making the States into states- there had to be a minimum of 500,000 people…?”  Again, I am bit fuzzy on where the fact came from, but hell, I’ll believe that!    She is SO FUNNY!!!

So she says…”Like…Wyoming can no longer be a state now…their last census showed less than 500,000….so let’s take all of SoCal’s population and relocate them there….It will solve alot of headaches…”

I, being from Colorado originally…and very proud of my rectangular little state…said “Well, then we can just elongate CO north and make it one big huge square - take over Wyoming’s space” (SORRY M :( )

More laughter…ridiculous, I know…did I mention we were having beers???   I know, I know…sad but true.  We shoulda been checking out the cute English boys left over from the Man U/Chelsea European Match!

PLEASE NOTE:  NOT ALL FACTS MAY BE TRUE - census for WY in 2006 was actually 515,000, so they can continue to be a state…but only JUST.  Also, please note that the Mid Atlantic states were NOT harmed in this slanderous incident by being referred to as male anatomy parts being supported by MD.  And one final note, Shannon works for a law firm and therefore cannot be held accountable for true Geographical or State facts.  ENJOY!!!
