The perils of a big head!

It’s summer time in Pasadena.  It’s hot and I have a problem–I have a big head!  No, I’m not talking about my ego–although that may be true too!  I’m talking about the actual circumference of my head.

Tomorrow I’m going to the Sierra Madre Art Festival and going to help my Friend Stephanie Bettman with her merchandise booth when her band plays.  (Check her out on Myspace–she’s amazing if you like clever, talented bluegrass/folk/jazz inspired music.)

The problem is I need a hat!   I am one of those people who burns to a crisp if I’m out in the afternoon sun!  My head is sooooo big that the only hats that fit my big ole’ noggin are men’s extra large hats–at least men’s hats have sizing.  Women’s hats–a whole different story–one size fits all!  Well not this big headed chick!  Women’s hat’s perch on top of my head and mock me!

Head to the men’s department and I can find hats tht fit but they definitely look like men’s hats!  If I ran the zoo, manufacturers would realize that nothing in the world is “one size fits all”  unless it is adjustable like a baseball cap!

I just did an Internet search and there are a few wise souls that know that some of us are looking for big hats for big heads but gosh–it would be nice to go to a store and try something on before I bought it.

I guess for tomorrow it is going to be my silly green fisherman’s hat and I’ll have to continue the search for the great sun hat for this big headed gal!

Found another option that got great reviews online … might not be convenient to get one there this weekend … but it sounds like a trip here might be worth the effort: http://www.hollywoodhatters.com/contact.php

Thanks I’ll check those out. Haven’t been in Hat World in a long time. It is a matter of keep checking back with places that stock the larger hat sizes–till I find the perfect hat (or two). I don’t really think about it until I have an event where I want a hat and then I’m normally time crunched like today!

The tennis headband is a look–I admit but it doesn’t quite keep me from turning into “ms. tomato face” after the sunscreen sweats off! I burn like you wouldn’t believe!
