Eat Pray Love - My Last Update :(

Sad Day Friend … I finished the Book !!

I’m really glad that I finally decided to read this book. I find it interesting that people either seem to love it or hate it. Such strong emotions on both sides of the fence. To me, it was an enjoyable read. I believe that’s because I am in (or have been in) those same shoes at one time (except for taking the year long sabitcal) or another and therefore, I understand what she’s writing about first hand.

Maybe it’s just easier to enjoy something when you identify with it in some way?

Maybe it’s just like when you go to a movie that everyone says is the “best movie in ages” and then you don’t like it?

Maybe it’s like Peter from the Loose Goose says about wine that it expensive - you put it up on such a pedestal and save it for something (or someone) special - therefore creating a larger than life expectation and when you open the bottle, it’s not what you thought it’d be - how could it be when you’ve built it up to be SO grand?

Who knows why the reactions are so different.

I do know that I was enjoying each page for what it was, a look into her life experiences. I enjoyed the ways we were similar in our thoughts and how opposite we were at other times. It is a book that I will gift to others or recommend without hesitation.

Now that I’ve gotten into the habit of giving myself that 30 minutes reading time each morning, I don’t want to give it up. I’ll have to find another book to start my day with.

I keep hearing (and seeing people carrying it around with them) about that book by Eckhart Tolle, “A New Earth”. Haven’t really looked into it much yet, but yesterday at Zac’s basketball game the lady sitting in front of us had it with her (along with a book on positive energy). Maybe it’s a sign I should check it out.

Maybe today I’ll take some ME time and cruise over to Barnes and Noble to see what strikes my fancy.

I have the new Eckhart Tolle book and it is very good - Very deep and I will say that I can only process and digest a few pages at a time - Go to Oprah.com and check out the teleconference they are doing on the book. It is a multi week series and is very interesting and engaging - (almost better than reading for me)!!

That can be our next book discussion.

I started it last night for a bit while Ron and Zac were working on a school project. I like it so far. Seems insightful.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED Eat, Pray, Love…however, I have to say, that the ending…to me…was a bit corny. I know that it is all good and it happens the way it should but felt a bit goofy. Maybe that is my problem and why I don’t have a man because it is just that…GOOFY????
Can’t wait to read the Eckhart Tolle book - Beth Hetu told me about it a few months ago…haven’t started it.

I would have to agree on the corny side of things at the end - but if it happened that way … :: shrug :: … love can be corny. I remember when Ron and I first met and everyone thought we were crazy for moving so fast after what we’d both been through - sometimes life just happens the way it happens … when it’s supposed to.
